JayR grew up in a small town by the water called Kemah, TX. He became a Christian in September 1999. After graduating from high school JayR attended Texas A&M University to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After two years of pursuing his own dream God showed JayR He had other plans for his life. JayR practiced reckless abandonment of his dreams in order to serve God in ministry. He started working as an intern in the high school ministry at Clear Creek Community Church in League City, TX. After the summer was over he moved to Plainview, TX, to complete a Bachelors degree in Religion at Wayland Baptist University. While completing his degree JayR worked as the Youth Pastor at First Baptist Church Hale Center in Hale Center, TX for three and a half years. Also, before his final semester of undergraduate work JayR married his wonderful wife, Kelli, on January 11th, 2013.
JayR moved to Waco in June 2014. He is currently working to complete a Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in Ministry Leadership from George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University.
“I am incredibly excited to have the opportunity to minister to the students of our church and of Gatesville, TX. I believe God has overly and abundantly blessed me in my coming to Coryell Community Church. My vision for students is to see them grow in their knowledge of Jesus Christ and to know what He has accomplished for us by way of the Gospel.”
There are five hopes I hold for the students of Coryell Community Church and they are that the students would…
1) Glorify God
2) Know God and be Known by Him
3) Show and Tell the World You Believe in God.
4) Serve Like Jesus Served
5) Love Your Neighbor

My name is Cherith (pronounced shur-eeth) Wells, I was born and raised in Tomball, Texas, where I grew up attending First Baptist Church of Tomball. I received my Bachelors of Music from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and just moved here from Waller, Tx where I taught Choir, Yearbook, AP Music Theory and coordinated Prom at Waller High School for 13 years. I loved my community very much, and founded the Waller Community Chorus, Summer Music Camp, Waller Fine Arts Society, and the Waller County Fair Talent Showdown so that our small town could be afforded musical opportunities! I was also vocalist and keyboardist on the Worship Team at The Journey Church of Waller for 4 years. I now teach Choir at Midway Middle School in Hewitt, and am thrilled to be leading worship at CCC! We just finished renovating a home on South Mountain in Gatesville, and we are loving the hill country views! I am blessed every day by my husband of 12 years, Micah, my son Memphis who is 10, and my daughter Paisley who is 8. You know, the Lord works in mysterious ways, and I'm learning to trust him more and more each day. Let me tell you a little about our journey to CCC.......
In Spring of 2016, we began praying about relocating our family, we weren't sure why, or where we were going, but it was on our minds. A few months later, we decided to put our house on the market, and apply for new jobs, asking God "If this is the right decision, please tell us loud and clear. And if it's not, that's ok too, just please tell us loud and clear". Within 6 days, our house was under contract, I had been offered a teaching position, our offer on a home in Gatesville was accepted, and my husband's transfer was granted. God, we heard you loud and clear!! Fast forward a few months, we've moved and the very first church we wanted to visit in Gatesville was CCC. As we are sitting in the service, I'm reading thoroughly through the Worship Folder, and I notice that it says "Interim Worship Leader". Huh. That's interesting. I point it out to my husband, who raises his eyebrow at me. It was on my mind all week, and I kept thinking there's no way this is a coincidence! The following Sunday, we visit CCC again. It's like "INTERIM" is starring me in the face the whole time, LOL. I googled trying to find any info about the position, and didn't really see anything online, but I felt like God was saying "you need to call them". I kept thinking "that's just too weird, and random, I can't call out of the blue. Plus we've only been there twice, there are other churches we'd like to visit, it's too soon" You name it, I made the excuse. But by Tuesday, I felt like God was screaming at me to call, so I did. From the Sherwin Williams parking lot, waiting on my paint to be mixed! Terry and Debbie were just a surprised as I was, to get my call, but the rest is history and here I am. It's like Proverbs 16:9 "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps." God sent us on a path that we didn't even know we needed to take, but we were faithful to listen and we are excited to see what He has in store next!
Nicole grew up in Belton, Texas. She did not attend church much as a child. She became a Christian in her early 20’s. She knew that there was more to life and wanted to find out what it was. She discovered it was a walk with Jesus that she was missing. Nicole has served on the CCC children’s ministry team since 2006. She became the full-time children’s minister in May 2015.
Nicole is married to the love of her life, Jeff. She has three sons: Trey, Brock, and Jeffrey. She cherishes the time she spends with them. They keep her really busy!!!
“Not being raised in church, I always tell kids what an awesome gift they are given by having the opportunity to be members of our amazing church.”
